Engineering Manager – Oslo

Our client are moving away from fossil fuels, and for the world to reach net zero emission in 2050 they are focusing on renewable hydrogen. Hydrogen is only as clean as the methods used to produce it, and their hydrogen is based on hydro, solar and wind power. Together with partners, they have access to a global network of sites with large predictable offtake and favorable power sourcing agreements. They aim to be an early mover in the hydrogen industry and help industries succeed with their energy transition and cut emissions. 

In this matter we are seeking to find an experienced and skilled Engineering Manager to join our team. You will take responsibility for leading the engineering and technical workstreams of our projects. Your focus will be on managing project engineering teams, selecting concepts, maturing the technical design and ensuring implementation of high-quality, safe and cost-effective solutions. In this position, the right person will provide technical expertise throughout the entire life cycle of projects, supporting and impacting the project’s decisions.


The Engineering Manager’s job responsibilities include:

• Manage the project’s engineering team
• Lead the engineering design of the project and take responsibility for all technical matters
• Provide technical assessments and expertise throughout the full life cycle of projects
• Prepare technology selection evaluations and identify project design optimization potential
• Develop technical specifications, scope of work, design basis and technical reports
• Review technical documentation from suppliers
• Coordinate and supervise work from contractors
• Coordinate technical assessments and issue recommendations for award of supplies and services
• Participate in R&D initiatives, tests and technology qualification programs
• Ensure proper coordination between project areas and the engineering team
• Manage technical interfaces between owner, customer and suppliers
• Ensure the totality and completeness of the technical solution
• Ensure correct level of quality assurance and agreed quality on the technical documents
• Provide input for development of capex estimates and master schedule
• Contribute for standardization of specifications and technical solutions
• Ensure application of lessons learned from previous projects
• Participate and follow-up Examinations and Audit’s within the area


– MSc in Engineering
– Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the oil&gas, energy, chemical or metal industry
– Experience working with Hydrogen is an advantage
– Experience working with projects is an advantage
– Fluent in English, both oral and written
– Strong technical and analytical skills
– Excellent organization skills, with ability to prioritize critical tasks and manage workload from different projects
– Uncompromising integrity
– Entrepreneurial spirit and “can do” attitude
– Value-driven, with high focus on collaboration
