Job Purpose
The Health and Safety Engineering Specialist is responsible for reviewing, assessing and managing the scope of works relevant to their specialization of the allocated FEED/EPC package under the direction of their delegated Senior Project Engineers and Project Manager in the oil and gas, petrochemical or infrastructure industries.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Provide guidance, advice, monitoring, and assistance to the organization with compliance to corporate safety and environmental requirements.
The role will be to liaise with the FEED/EPC contractor to ensure that all fire and safety related systems within the facility meet company, project and international standards and meet the full functionality and system requirements of the project.
Confirm that materials, systems, equipment and structures meet the safety requirements of the company, project and international standards.
Verify installation of the various system at site and provide support during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of the systems.
Verify safe operation, procedures and materials handling and lifting at site and adherence to company standards with respect to safety during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start up.
Review of FEED/EPC purchase specifications and subsequent vendor documentation and bids to confirm compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
Get involved in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of specific units and liaise with the manufacturer.
Coordinate the requirements with Loss Prevention and Fire Department
Proficiency in the below:
Risk Assessment Studies Reports (HZIDS, HAZOPS, SILs, etc)
Fire & Gas philosophy and specifications
Fire water system designs
Fire protection systems in process areas and in buildings
Safety Design for process areas including fire detections layouts
Buildings fire and gas design layouts
Environmental requirements
Hazardous areas classifications
