Training Superintendent – Northern Canada

Dovre Canada Limited is pleased to offer the following opportunity: Training Superintendent, located onsite in Northern Canada

Function

Reporting to the Senior Director of Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Training, the Training Superintendent  is accountable for training, and the design and development services and curriculum, policies and programs, needs analysis and overall business training strategies. The Training Superintendent is also responsible for the direction, development and Management of and all Training Personnel including the Inuit Success Team.

Maine Accountabilities

  • Identify training and development needs (technical and non-technical) through analysis of the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA), job/skills analysis, workforce plans, appraisal schemes, and operational requirement (steady state and transient operation phases).
  • Design and develop training plans, programs and processes to meet the business requirements.
  • Manage the effective delivery of training programs at the site and other work locations, including in the communities and at the head office in Oakville, Ontario
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the succession planning and talent management processes.
  • Evaluate and report on training and development programs through the management of the Learning Management System (LMS), which includes reporting required under the IIBA.
  • Establish and maintain communications with all stakeholders to ensure training needs are identified and addressed in a timely manner and risks associated with the business are reduced in order to build and maintain a safe, cost effective, and productive operation.
  • Liaise closely and continue to build positive relationships with the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) and Q-STEP – The Qikiqtani Skills and Training for Employment Partnership
  • Ensure the training and Inuit success staff under their supervision are adhering to proper protocols and procedures.

Requirements

Main Qualifications

  • Degree or Certificate in Technical Training, Education, Adult Learning, Learning & Development or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with Training & Development, and Mining
  • WCC Supervisor Certification and First Aid Certification
  • Sets high but achievable standards for self and others.
